Era Living’s Founders Honored By University of Washington School of Nursing

SEATTLE, May 10, 2012 — The University of Washington (UW) School of Nursing, the nation’s top-rated nursing school, recognized Era Living’s founders, Eli and Rebecca Almo, with The Peter Dyer Heart of Nursing Award on Wednesday, May 9th during its annual Nurses Recognition Banquet.  The Peter Dyer Heart of Nursing Award was created two years ago; its purpose is to honor exemplary community volunteers who embody the mission and values of the School of Nursing.

As UW School of Nursing Interim Dean, Dr. Pamela Mitchell, presented the award, she voiced appreciation of the Almos longtime work as Advisory Board Co-Chairs for the school, and for their support of aging programs through the Aljoya Endowed Professorship in Aging, which was established in 1996.

“For many years, Eli and Rebecca have graciously invited our students and researchers into their facilities at Era Living to help improve care for older adults and they have supported our school,” said Mitchell.

The awards ceremony took place at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle during National Nurses Week.  As the Almos accepted their award, they expressed gratitude for the vital role the nurses play in people’s lives every day.

The Almos are committed to the Era Living partnership with the School of Nursing, and to continuing to find new ways to enrich the lives of older adults.
