The Best Friends™ Approach to Dementia Care

Era Living Memory Care proudly follows the Best Friends™ approach, a life-affirming philosophy developed by nationally recognized dementia care experts David Troxel and the late Virginia Bell.

The Best Friends™ Approach is based on a simple but powerful belief: people living with dementia thrive when they feel understood, respected, connected, and valued.

Additionally, our team takes time to learn each resident’s life story, personal preferences, routines, and interests. By focusing on the person rather than the diagnosis, we create meaningful relationships that help residents feel safe, comfortable, and engaged.

This approach guides every interaction — from daily care and communication to activities and dining experiences.

Recently, my mother moved to the memory care area. The director and the staff, went out of their way to help us with this transition. Due to the skill and attentiveness of the caregivers, my mom feels safe and comfortable while enjoying the daily activities. It has become her home away from home."
