COVID-19 related time off benefits examples

Here are three examples on how the new COVID-19 related time off benefits work when you meet the criteria described on the FAQs for Staff page:

Example 1:
You’re a full time employee who works 8 hours per day 5 days per week. You are Era Quarantined for 14 days, which equates to 80 hours of sick time. If you have just 16 hours in your sick bank, those will be used first and then Era Living will provide an addition 64 hours of sick pay to you.

Example 2:
You’re a full time employee who works 8 hours per day 5 days per week. You are first Era Quarantined, then develop COVID-19 symptoms and are out for a total of 21 days, or 120 hours. If you have just 16 hours in your sick bank, those will be used first and then Era Living will provide an addition 64 hours of sick pay to get you through the first 14 days. You will then be granted an advance of 5 more days sick time (or 40 hours) to cover the last week you’re out. When you begin working again, you will pay back the advance of sick leave through regular sick time accruals each pay period.

Example 3:
You are a part time employee that works 8 hours per day 2 days per week. You are Era Quarantined for 14 days, which equates to 32 hours of sick time. If you have just 16 hours in your sick bank, those will be used first and then Era Living will provide an addition 16 hours of sick pay to you.

In all instances, a Time Off Request (ToR) must be filled out completely and correctly. Each scheduled day you missed must be marked as “S”ick and the regular hours you work must be included. In the Comments box, you must write “Era Quarantined” or one of the other three qualifying reasons that you were out. If you’re not able to be at work, please work with your supervisor over the phone to ensure a ToR is completed for you.
