This class will start by examining the great physical and moral crisis of the Civil War, its causes, outcomes, and especially July 3rd/4th 1863 which was the turning point of the war when the south lost both Vicksburg and Gettysburg. We’ll examine the great energy that settled the west and brought us modern inventions like the telephone, light bulb, Central Park, Ellis
Island, and skyscrapers!
